Together with Parks Victoria, we are conducting environmental watering experiments using disconnected billabongs along the Woori Yallock Creek (Yellingbo Nature Conservation Reserve) to investigate the potential of flooding to promote revegetation and natural regeneration of wetland forest species.
Below is a video of a recent environmental watering (via pumping) at one the billabongs, the ‘Depot Swamp’.
The vegetation response of plantings of wetland forest species, and unplanted plots (natural regeneration) will be assessed along the elevational gradients within the billabong. For further information please contact Joe Greet – greetj@unimelb.edu.au.
